A native of Linchuan, Jiangxi, Wang Anshi is also known as Jiepu or Banshan. As an ideologist, politician, litterateur in the Northern Song Dynasty and one of the Eight Tang-Song Prose Masters, Wang is credited as Chinese Reformer in the 11th Century. In 1047 AD during the Qingli period, he was posted to Yinxian County as magistrate after passing the highest imperial examination, where he stayed for three years, inviting the then famed Confucianists to advance education, putting Qingmiao Law into trial run and receiving wide support from the masses. He constructed West Pavilion beside the Moon Lake for study.
