A native of Ningguo, Anhui, Wu Qian is alternatively called Yifu or Lvzhai. In the Jiading period, he came out first in the highest imperial examination while in 1251, he was promoted to prime minister and honored as Earl of Chongguo. Wu was posted to Mingzhou twice. The first time was during the Duanping Period (1234-1236) as assistant minister and military commissioner, and the second time was during the Baoyou Period (1253-1258) as military commissioner and head of Qingyuan Prefecture. During the stay, he made various accomplishments like prospering academic studies, building ramparts and improving water conservancy. Shuize Tablet in the Moon Lake is his contribution.
