A native of Ningbo, Shi Hao is also known as Zhiweng or Zhenyin. In the Shaoxing period (1131-1162 AD), he passed the highest imperial examination. He assumed high-rank positions when Emperor Gaozong and Xiaozong reigned, governing the nation with great sagacity and diligence, caring for his people, employing the talented and redressing the injustice imposed on Yue Fei. In 1183, he retired from the court with the title of Earl of Weiguo and was successively granted the honor of Duke of Kuaiji Jun and Duke of Yue, thus adding glory to the Shi’s as a venerable family of politicians. His mansion beside the Moon Lake is a spectacle with its grand architecture.
