Yang’s Former Residence. Built in the period of the Republic of China, it is a cultural site protected at the municipal level. Facing south, the Residence is comprised of a front gate, an entrance hall, a main building, and wing-rooms. It was the former residence of Yang Juting, a famous educator in Ningbo during the period of the Republic of China. Yang Juting(1888-1969),also named Yicheng, Juting and Duanxun He taught for over half a century and his students included the famous litterateur Baren and the eminent calligrapher Sha Menghai. Since Yang was skillful in teaching trigonometry, he was reputed as “Trig Yang”, enjoying equal fame and respect with “Geometry Shi (Delian)”and “Algebra Cai(Zenghu)”. Besides, Yang was once the head of Ningbo Education Bureau, headmaster of Ningbo Girl’s High School, and member of Record Committee of Ying County, and had also complied three volumes of Zhuzhou Literature, a Ningbo Language Sutra, the Biographical Sketch of Zhang Cangshui, etc.
