Costing 200,000 silver ingots, the Temple was built by the Qin Family to sacrifice their ancestors between 1923 and 1925.Covering a total area of 0.17 hectare, of which the construction area reaching 2,000 m2, it also blends several types of folk craftsmanship of Ningbo like wood carving, brick carving, gilding and embossing, making itself a demonstration center of art of traditional Ningbo dwellings. The stage is girdled on three sides by curved railings dubbed as “banisters on which fair ladies incline”. Sixteen cup-like structures hoist up the roof. There the arched caisson ceiling is paneled with thousands of carved tenons, a spiral–like design that is both solid and ingenious. At a quick glimpse the whole thing seems to be in motion, indeed a coup de maitre of Ningbo’s small wooden crafts.
